Shirts-

I have decided to get a starter order for us to begin my new reign as T-Shirt king. We are going to have a very similar design as the other shirt just to begin so we can satisfy some people who really want to represent DCF. Any new design ideas anyone has to bring to the table email me and we will throw it into the mix.

In the true Luca style here is a very motivational poster

Those look great Jorgy. I’d say any of them with the fire/flames on them. Of course, I’m a bit bias :~)

I’ll email you with some shirt ideas as well. Thanks again for taking care of this for us.

Mi like the white with the red flames.

  • Mark L.

That popped collars guy definitely doesn’t do crossfit. Even with those 4 woven shirt on, his sleeve is still pretty slim.
    I love the poster, though.
Here’s a great one with a sports focus:

Is the shirt itself going to be black or white? Some of these logos would be hard to see on a black shirt.

If it’s a black t-shirt, I like the logos on the bottom right corner and the one on the far right column, third from the top.

  • Mark L.

Most of the T-shirt makers (the electronic ones, anyway) allow you to code your uploaded art as either white=shirt or white=white. I would imagine on a black shirt, you’d code the white=white, so the color of the shirt doesn’t matter as much.

I do think it’s a thought provoking contrast with the “C” as in “Cross” being portrayed graphically as Satan (aka. Diablo). ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Flames going sideways is cool. The letters need to have the horn and the tail though.

Put one of these on the sleeve so that the flames are shooting backward (cause we are moving so DAMN FAST).

Speaking of shirts. . . do you all think we should use a famous quote for some? Here are some famous quotes I compiled a while ago when DCF was conceived.

Let me know which ones you like best.

    Give the devil his due.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
    Author: Bible
    Source: I Peter (ch. V, v. 8)

“We are each our own devil, and we make this world our hell” รขโ‚ฌโ€œ Oscar Wilde

The devil is in the details.

The devil made me do it.

The devil has put a penalty on all things we enjoy in life. Either we suffer in health or we suffer in soul or we get fat.
    Albert Einstein

It is harder work getting to hell than to heaven.

If you are going through hell, keep going. Winston Churchill

Ah, to think how thin the veil that lies Between the pain of hell and Paradise.
    Author: George William Russell (“A.E”)

Pray for the dead and fight like hell for the living.
    Author: Mary Harris “Mother” Jones

To appreciate heaven well, it’s good for a person to have some fifteen minutes of hell.
    Author: Will Carleton

Everything I did in my life that was worthwhile I caught hell for.
    Author: Earl Warren

Each of us bears his own Hell. Virgil

Scorching my seared heart with a pain, not hell shall make me fear again. Poe

I never did give anybody hell. I just told the truth and they thought it was hell. Truman

Chase after the truth like all hell and you’ll free yourself, even though you never touch its coat-tails. Clarence Darrow

Here are my 2 votes. We could also put down some latin or greek script, that stuff is cool also.

    #1
Pray for the dead and fight like hell for the living.
    Author: Mary Harris “Mother” Jones

    #2
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
    Author: Bible
    Source: I Peter (ch. V, v. 8)

    Either of those are stellar.

I like “Give the Devil his due”.

Pukie is weakness leaving the body

  • Mike Erickson

I like: “Give the Devil his due”
    with an add on:
-Jump in the fire at DCF

  • Mike Erickson

Stavros #2: How I feel about the DCF trainers… ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Rodil

1st quote choice: The devil has put a penalty on all things we enjoy in life. Either we suffer in health or we suffer in soul or we get fat.

    Albert Einstein

2nd choice: What Mike E said above with the add-on.

  • J Jones

I will also say that I think we should try and have a shirt made that will allow us to have FIVE popped collars.

    We would be unstoppable.

    -jj

  • Mark L.

…5 popped collars filled with muscular arms, not the whimpy Depeche Mode arms portrayed in the poster. We WOULD be unstoppable!

My quote vote is my all-time (secular) favorite:
“If you are going through hell, keep going.”
    Winston Churchill

That sentiment is not far off from the “Rest when you’re DONE!” classic Crossfit mantra heard during workouts at DCF.

Also, Winston Churchill was a fat, heavy drinking, cigar smoking British guy, and I love the irony of his words being on a fitness t-shirt.

  • Stavros

    ooh, I enter another vote…

“Rest when you’re DONE”, that is classic DCF talk.

  • Luca Z.

What do you have against Depeche Mode Mark? They are as masculine as any gay group can be.
On a different note I like the Edgar Poe quote and the “give the Devil his due”

  • Mark L.

Depeche Mode masculine? That might not be far of the mark. It was a time when guys who’s upper arms had the same circumference as my wrist and were considered masculine… a time when we saw high school football stars, wrestling team members and class royalty sporting both pastel colored popped collars AND feathered hair, and people didn’t even blink… those were the days.
Anyway, in the new millenium, I’d like to think real men can do at least one pullup.

  • Craig

“Specialization is for insects.” Robert Heinlen.

Taken from a must-read book: “Play as if your life depends on it”
    Frank Forencich.

This book looks at fitness from an evolutionary aspect. Humans have evolved physically over a few million years to the status of bipedal ice-age hunter-gatherers capable of living in a myriad climates and geographies.

The last couple thousand years (less than 1% of our evolution) has brought us farming, roads and automated transportation. But we physically should be living as our ice-she ancestors did. We are essentially like wild animals captured and put into a zoo.

    Intersting premise and
    Great read.

I’m in for the CF Unlimited Challenge on the 22nd. I think so far Stavros, Mo and Air Force Mike are going?

Here’s the format from their website:

“The Unlimited Hopper Challenge is June 22 at 10am. I know the guys from One World and Oakland are in. Here’s how it’s going down. I’m going to have each head coach email 5 “secret” WODs. I’ll put them all in a hopper and pick one. Vito will be the master griller on the BBQ. The cost will be $25 for competitors, which includes BBQ and a t-shirt. Spectators are free, but we asking for $10 donation if they want food and drink. We’re hoping for 50 participants, so get the word out and if you haven’t registered yet click here to do so.”

I was casually reading (spying on) the blog at CF Oakland and one of their members suggested Fran for one of the WODs. Any suggestions for what WODs DCF should throw in the hopper?

I vote for Cindy, Helen, Jackie, 3 round Fight Gone Bad, Tabata Something Else (at least you know it’s over in 17 min), and no WODs with double-unders or a bar over 95 lbs.

  • sakura

LOVE the DCF on the bottom left corner but i think it needs a tail. awesome graphics!

    i like:

‘The devil made me do it.’ (with a picture of the trainers…hehe)

    and

‘It is harder work getting to hell than to heaven.’

  • J Jones

I will be emailing the ‘secret’ wods.

I will be choosing from some of the ‘favorites’ (meaning: least favorites) posted on our website that are original to DCF if possible.

HINT: Never tell a DCF Trainer what you don’t want to do. If you do, you can bet your ass you’ll be doing a lot of it soon.

“We are each our own devil, and we make this world our hell” รขโ‚ฌโ€œ Oscar Wilde

I like this quote. It kinda goes with the whole “Sweat Demon” thing.
