Our Mission: Make our clients fit beyond expectation.

We began Diablo CrossFit in 2005 with a simple mission: to make our clients “Fit Beyond Expectation.” By focusing all of our energy, effort and finances on our mission, the result is an amazing gym with multiple facilities, talented Coaches and a fantastic, welcoming community of members exceeding their fitness goals.

Diablo has earned a reputation for fitness success world-wide as a result of our athletes’ incredible accomplishments, but we thrive on the amazing physical transformations of our every-day members who come to us to lose weight, get strong, or simply improve their health: working women & men, first-time exercisers, grandparents, stay-at-home parents, teens or the disabled.

Not all CrossFit gyms are the same. Here are the things that we believe make a difference:

Our Workout Programming

Fitness equals wellness. If you are injured, excessively sore or overly tired as a result of your exercise regime, then you are not “fit.”

The design of the workout of the day (WOD) program is the MOST important difference between CrossFit boxes. CrossFit works, fast. But, more CrossFit does not equal better CrossFit. Excessive repetitive movements, improper scaling, or complex exercises under fatigue can leave people sore and possibly injured.

Diablo has been programming & tracking CrossFit workouts for clients since 2005. We have collected tens of thousands of results from members. Those results, along with ongoing client & Coach feedback has helped Diablo create incredibly effective workout programming for ALL of our clients, including our beginning members, our masters, our teens and top athletes.

Head Coach Jeremy Jones and his support team create the daily workouts for Diablo members, other affiliates and competitive athletes. Diablo’s daily programming includes strength training which helps build a solid foundation for conditioning workouts (and daily life activities!). We also include accessory and flexibility exercises to improve our members’ mobility and athletic skills. Finally, every session ends with intense and fun conditioning workouts that build stamina and endurance.

The quality of our workout programming is measured by the amazing results of our members. We encourage you to come in and talk to them – they enjoy sharing their success.

Our Facilities

LOCATIONS save time. We have 4 amazing facilities along the I680 corridor, in Pleasant Hill, Alamo, Pleasanton, and Benicia. We take tremendous pride in our facilities – outfitting them with the latest functional fitness equipment available. When equipment is worn, we replace it promptly. We have a professional cleaning crew that comes daily. We set aside space, indoor and outdoor for open gym every day. Don’t sit in traffic, stop by one of our locations and get your workout in!

ACCESSIBILITY is crucial to maintaining any fitness program! Diablo’s 4 facilities are ALL open 7 days a week from early AM to late evening most days. Combined, we have more classes on our schedule than any other CrossFit in Northern California.

OPEN GYM is important to our members with busy schedules who need to get a workout when they can’t make a class. All of our locations have open gym training all day.

Our Coaches

Here, our coaches practice what they preach. Every single coach on our staff, including the owners, were doing CrossFit on their own before becoming a coach with Diablo CrossFit. Our coaches know what the customer experience is like because they were all clients. They are passionate about fitness, nutrition and the CrossFit methodology. They constantly devour information, videos, books, and blogs on everything related to fitness, nutrition and CrossFit. They pursue new Certifications every year. They compete regularly in CrossFit competitions, triathlons, 10ks, marathons, and more. Learn more about our coaches here: Coaches (click).

Our Classes

Diablo offers more CrossFit classes per week than any other single CrossFit in the world. We also offer classes that compliment you (and your family’s) CrossFit routine: Olympic lifting, strength training, rowing classes, nutrition clinics, specialty skills, mobility, stretching, and yoga. We also have competition/team classes for athletes that train to compete in CrossFit events. For experienced CrossFitters, we also offer open gym, all days in most of our locations. More information on our classes here: Classes.

Our Community

CrossFit is known for its supportive, welcoming and generous community. Attend any CrossFit event or visit a CrossFit affiliate anywhere in the world and you’ll find like-minded people eager to welcome you to CrossFit and share their experiences. Likewise, at Diablo, our community is incredibly welcoming and supportive – always willing to offer advice, coaching and encouragement. The Diablo community has become legendary at CrossFit events, dominating the crowds with chants of support for Diablo athletes.

Our History

The Jones and Howard families have poured their hearts and souls into Diablo and it’s amazing community since day one. Jeremy Jones began CrossFitting in 2004 with workouts in his backyard. A few months later he teamed up with a couple of other local CrossFitters including Craig Howard, and together they moved their workouts to a local park and launched an affiliate: Diablo CrossFit. Jeremy and Craig stuck it out by holding down day jobs while teaching classes, and recruiting members to become Coaches.

TheOriginalShed1-300x214Diablo soon moved indoors, to a small mechanic’s shed in Walnut Creek. 750 square feet of Diablo history! They put out a “Karma Jar” so that members could help cover expenses. As word of mouth spread, Diablo grew, fast. Not too long after, Jeremy quit his day job and joined Diablo as the head coach.

That’s when things got busy and we outgrew our ‘Shed’! Diablo moved to Pleasant Hill in January, 2009, taking over 4000 square feet. After two short years (and lots of negotiations with the City of Pleasant Hill), they tore down a wall and expanded to 12,000 square feet adding more workout space, showers, warm up and mobility areas, and a multi-purpose room for yoga, rowing classes, and clinics.

In 2011, the partners launched Diablo Fitness Engineering, a functional fitness equipment business expanding the facility an additional 4000 square feet. Diablo Fitness Engineering has become the outlet for Jeremy’s multi-purpose functional equipment designs as well as a local warehouse for Northern California CrossFitters and affiliates to purchase equipment without shipping costs.

Partners-300x172At the end of 2011, Diablo CrossFit became a true “family business” when the partners’ wives officially joined the business, with Jamie Jones running Diablo Fitness Engineering and Yvonne Howard managing operations and memberships for Diablo CrossFit.

All of the family are avid CrossFitters. It is our passion. And we want to share it with you. Come try it out, we know you’ll love it.
