Vincenzo Cangilose

COACH

Vincenzo is from Grants Pass, a small town in Southern Oregon. Raised in an unconventional environment, he was homeschooled and didn’t participate in traditional sports. Instead, he found his passion in ballet, thanks to his mother who ran a ballet studio. At age 10, he began training in ballet, a discipline he pursued for six years. The rigors of ballet instilled a deep understanding of movement and an appreciation for technique. To balance out the grace of ballet, he also spent time trail-riding dirt bikes through the Oregon mountains.

Vincenzo’s first exposure to CrossFit came at age 20, when his college roommate invited him to try a class. The focus on quality movement and technique immediately resonated with his ballet background. He’s since fallen in love with CrossFit and attributes his mental and physical wellbeing to the time spent in the gym.

Vincenzo’s approach to development—both in and out of the gym—centers on consistency and incremental improvement, aiming to get 1% better every day. He believes in the importance of patience and persistence, often sharing the quote: “Most people overestimate what they can do in a day, and underestimate what they can do in a year.”

In addition to coaching at Diablo, Vincenzo runs a local home care agency with his family. When not working, he enjoys traveling and riding bicycles with his wife, Gianna, a fellow Diablo member.
