Member Christian Dean, left to right: 11 years ago, 6 months ago and 3 months ago.
She joined Diablo in Oct 2023 as part of her 12 year journey to health. She’s also an avid Pelotoner, a marathoner and yoga fan and incredibly positive, humble and kind.

On Friday, Christian sent me this awesome email – documenting a major milestone in her amazing journey:

I just had my panels checked, Kidney Function, Glucose, Liver Function, Lipids, Electrolytes, Protein Levels – ALL completely healthy.  Insulin/Kidneys levels are great, doctor says it’s likely due to strengthen training.

I know CrossFit is helpful a shit ton of people and I’m one of them. The focus is making sure this stays this way, long term!  Thank you for doing what you do!”

You never know how strong you are, until being strong is your only choice.”

PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER  The 2025 CrossFit Games Open registration is LIVE on Wednesday, January 15th. More than 300,000 CrossFit enthusiasts are expected to participate in this online competition event hosted at affiliates all around the world! The competition consists of 3 total workouts, scheduled one each each from February 27th until March 17th. Workouts are announced on Thursday and you’ll have until Monday to complete it.

Every year for the Open, Diablo (and many affiliates around the world) host a “Friday Night Lights” event to bring our community together to complete the workout. The Open and Friday Night Lights events are truly unique in the world of fitness and sports. Thousands of CrossFit gyms and hundreds of thousands of members come together in-person locally and online globally to celebrate the incredible methodology and sport of CrossFit and the CrossFit community. There is no other event like it in the world.

When you participate and do the Open workouts, other CrossFitters around the world are doing the exact same workout as you – many at the same exact time. They’re feeling the same anxiety, fear, exhaustion and exhilaration as you. And when they’re done, they’re fist bumping or high-fiving their friends and fellow members – just like you. They share their Open experiences with their family and friends and on social media, inspiring others to try CrossFit – just like you.

Be part of something big. Celebrate everything great about CrossFit. Register for the 2025 Open.

THEMES NOT TEAMS For 2025, Diablo will host a Friday Night Lights Theme Party each week of the Open. We’re taking a break from our Intramural Open teams this year. Each week we’ll announce the theme in advance so you’ll have plenty of time to prepare your best Open uniform. Of course, family and friends are encouraged to come hang out, watch the workouts and enjoy the fun.

NORCAL CLASSIC COMPETITION – UPDATE
Last week CrossFit announced that the NorCal Classic is now a CrossFit Games qualifier event for the Elite individuals. Additionally the in-person event has been moved to June 5-8th in Sacramento. All Divisions remain the same! And, we now have a little longer to complete our Online Qualifier workouts: results are not due unitl January 30 at 11:59PM.

Everyone participating is invited to attend our Qualifier workout sessions on Sat & Sun at 11A. We’ll judge each other and help with videos.

CRAIG’S LIST:
  • PODCAST:  Peter Attia – Autism, ADHD, and Anxiety: the rise in autism & an approach to diagnosing & treating children – Treena Sutcliffe, MD Trenna Sutcliffe is a developmental behavioral pediatrician & the founder & medical director of the Sutcliffe Clinic in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is an OUTSTANDING discussion on the diagnosis and treatments for ADHD, Anxiety and Autism – including therapy and medical intervention. If your child is dealing with any of these issues – please check this one out!

  • POSITIVE PODCAST: “The Biggest Mistake of My Career” – Tony Robbins on PBD Podcast. I’ve been a Tony Robbins fan for 25 years. This is a fantastic look into his career and his teachings that have helped millions including several heads of state, professional athletes and other dignitaries.

  • Prime: Gladiator 2Meh, I was hoping for more. The cinematography was excellent, but the storyline was contrived & predictable and a bit hard to believe. Some of the colosseum scenes were cool, but the sharks were absurd. And, Gladiator was no Russell Crowe. Wait until it’s free.
Make it an awesome week!
