On Saturday, 17 Diablo members and coaches traveled to San Jose to the SAP Center (Shark Tank), home of the 2026 CrossFit Games, to tour the venue, get a workout in and hear from Don Faul, CEO, Dave Castro, Games Director, and Adrian Bozman, Competition Director. They also got to hang out with the Fittest Man on Earth, Jayson Hopper, and former Fittest on Earth Athletes, James Sprague and Justin Medieros, and contender Dallin Pepper. It was an absolute blast. This competition year is going to be epic!
“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.”
— Michael Jordan
WHAT DOES IS TAKE?
There is a clear line between wanting results and producing them. Wanting is passive. Wishing is comfortable. Making it happen requires a decision—definitive, sometimes inconvenient, and sustained over time. Once the mind is set, behavior follows. Standards rise. Effort becomes deliberate instead of optional. This is true in fitness, business, and community building.
I don’t like to set goals too often because, for me, goals create tension – stress – that often yields action toward the goal. But, for obvious reasons – health, business, family – I periodically set goals to keep me focused on relevant, meaningful behavior. And, I elevate the significance of goals in my mind, similar to what most people do when a Doctor says: “if you don’t change your habits, you’re going to need hospitalization or worse…”
Thus, Diablo’s success as a CrossFit affiliate is not coincidence and it’s not luck. And, being near the top globally in CrossFit Open registrations didn’t “just happen.” We didn’t wait for CrossFit to make it happen for us. Instead, we decided that going big on the first day mattered. We committed to it early, aligned our team around it, and executed— day after day. We talked about it, planned for it, promoted it, and created an environment where participation was the expectation, not the exception.
That same principle applies to every goal worth pursuing, especially your fitness and health. Progress follows commitment, not intention. Results follow action, not hope. We got this.

CRAIG’S LIST: Podcast Time!
- YT: Build Muscle & Strength & Forge Your Life Path | Dorian Yates – with Huberman – LOVED THIS ONE. Dorian Yates is one of my fitness heroes, a “blue-collar”, 6-Time Mr. Olympia and one of the most dominant bodybuilders in the world. Her recommends low-volume, high intensity lifting for muscle growth. He talks training (he knows a LOT) and steroids, cannabis and even psychedelics for mental health.
- YT: The Wellness Industry Is Gigantic — and Mostly Wrong | Freakonomics Radio – Dr. Zeke Emanuel, MD & Medical Ethicist talks about the incredibly fast growing wellness industry – what works and what doesn’t. Really enjoyed this discussion – since I’m all-in on wellness.
Make it an awesome week!
