26 Point 2 at Diablo was another epic Friday Night To Remember!
We actually had MORE athletes participate than 26.1. Our Intramural Open theme was “Rock & Roll” and of course, the Teams nailed it! And, for an added twist, we added a few team competitions: CrossFit Bocce and Bro Row!
“You are only limited to what you push yourself to, you know? You can always get better.”
Lindsey Vonn
WHAT’S YOUR TAKE-AWAY?
After completing 26.2 yesterday with my friend Dean, we sat out front and commiserated together about NOT getting a muscle up. We both agreed that our weakness was exposed – we didn’t practice them or work on them much at all over the last several months. We also committed to working on strict pull-ups and maybe even a strict muscle-up by the end of the year (calling Dean out). That’s our take-away.
Every Open workout leaves a mark. Sometimes it’s pride, sometimes it’s frustration, sometimes it’s a surprise you didn’t see coming. That’s normal. The Open has a way of holding up a mirror: it shows you exactly where you are today. The question that matters isn’t whether you were thrilled or disappointed when the clock stopped — it’s what you take away from the experience.
Our members have already completed the first two workouts nearly 500 times, including re-tests. That’s 500 chances to learn something about pacing, preparation, mindset, or simply how you respond when things get uncomfortable. The athletes who grow the most aren’t the ones who always love their result. They’re the ones who look at it honestly and ask, “What can I do better next time?”
So whatever your reaction was after each workout — relief, frustration, pride, or motivation — use it. Let it sharpen your focus. The Open isn’t just a test of fitness; it’s feedback. The athletes who improve the most are the ones who turn that feedback into action.
As Yvonne often says, “If you’re not winning, you’re learning.”

CRAIG’S LIST:
- MOVIE: NUREMBERG – this feature film now on Netflix is very well done with a fantastic cast that tells the story of the Nuremberg Trials – the world court trial of the surviving Nazi regime. Russell Crowe as Hermann Goring is outstanding. Remi Malek plays the role of an appointed Army Psychiatrist who builds a disturbing relationship with Goring. I remember learning about the Nuremberg Trials in high school, but didn’t really comprehend the political significance and never learned the backstory – how challenging it was to even conduct a trial with all the world’s super power nations participating.
- YouTube – Coach Amanda Hari’s CrossFit Open Workout Reviews are extremely popular in the CrossFit Community. Her review of 26.2 is at 26k views – because, (1) she’s great on camera and (2) her performances are more aligned with “average” CrossFitters vs.”elite” and (3) she posts them very soon after the announcements.
- YouTube – 3 Supplements Every Parent Should Be Giving Their Kids.. Dr. Rhonda Patrick. This is an 8min clip worth watching! (…Calcium, Vitamin D, Omega-3s, Creatine, Protein)
