“A lot of people give up just before they’re about to make it. You know you never know when that next obstacle is going to be the last one.”

NOW WHAT?…BACK TO THE GRIND
Welcome to the Open Hangover.
For the past three weeks, the Open was a drug: adrenaline, anticipation, Friday Night Lights energy, anxiety, a lot of excitement, and plenty of opportunities to surprise ourselves. We hti the workouts hard, cheered like crazy, laughed a lot, and probably cared a little too much about one rep on the rings.. And now? It’s over. The scores are in, the redos are done, and for a lot of people, there’s a little bit of an “Open Hangover.”
So… now what? Now we get back to the part that actually matters most.
The real magic of CrossFit isn’t in just three weeks of competition each spring. It’s in the daily grind. It’s showing up 3–5 days a week when there’s no judges, no cheering, no special event—just the workout of the day, your coach, and the decision to keep moving forward. That “ordinary” routine is what makes us healthier, stronger, more capable humans. It’s what gives us energy to do more in life, confidence to take on hard things, and the ability to be more present for our families and friends. It’s what lets us set an example for our kids.. not by talking about discipline, but by living it.
The Open is exciting. The grind is transformational.
So if you’re feeling that post-Open letdown, good. That means you cared. But don’t lose sight of what comes next. Now what? Embrace the grind. That’s where the real progress happens. That’s where better lives are built.

INTRAMURAL OPEN FINAL RESULTS
CONGRATULATIONS TEAM “CHALK THIS WAY!”
Analysis: overall, the weekly results were fairly close for all teams. At the end of the day, the big difference maker was the Draft. Team “Chalk This Way” made a bold decision to choose a large number of members who had never signed up for the Open. Why? Well, this year we added a new team scoring opportunity in order to encourage participation: first time Open Workout participation was worth 5 points for the team – in the first week only. Admittedly, I didn’t think much of Chalk This Way’s draft decision, but it proved to be a brilliant strategy earning the team 90(!!) points in the 1st week, helping to secure a substantial lead for the rest of the competition.

CRAIG’S LIST: Stuff I’m Watching, Reading, Using or Listening to…
- PODCAST: Body Language Expert – The 3 Dark Psychology Tricks to Read Anyone’s Mind – Chase Hughes. This is a very fascinating podcast on the use of language and movement to influence others. This is a VERY valuable podcast for anyone who wants to improve their communication skills and ability to influence others; managers, teachers, parents, law enforcement, influencers, therapists, etc. I’ve studied neurolinguistic programming years ago and understand some of the strategies for improved communication and influence – and Chase touches on some of those skills.
- YOUTUBE SHORT: The Importance of Vitamin D – Dr. Rhonda Patrick – The the massive benefits of daily Vitamin D supplementation are backed by a substantial amount of research. Vitamin D gets converted to a steroid hormone and is absorbed into the nucleus of the cell – which regulates our genes. Watch RP’s full Vitamin D presentation here.
- Vitamin D Supplement: I take (and recommend) daily HIGH QUALITY Vitamin D supplementation with K2. Check out Thorne.
Make it an awesome week!
