Craig Howard

COACH / OWNER / CO-FOUNDER

With a long career in the investment world, Craig’s side passion was always fitness & sports. His athletic background includes competitive water polo & skiing in high school & college. After college, Craig spent many hours in the gym with his wife, Yvonne and his younger brother, Erik (former NFL’r) training for strength and size, achieving a “raw” 600 lb back squat & 405 lb bench press. In his late 30’s he caught the running bug and completed many half and full marathons (Austin: ’00, ’01’, ’02, ’03, & ’04) and several Olympic distance triathlons – achieving a personal best 3:36 Marathon and 1:32 Half-Marathon (at 210lbs!).

In 2004 at age 42, he found CrossFit and was hooked. In 2006 he partnered with Jeremy Jones and launched Diablo CrossFit. He loves competition, competes in the Games qualifying events, and qualifying for the CrossFit Games as a Masters athlete in 2011 and 2013.  In 2013 Craig achieved one of his fitness goals by winning the CrossFit Games Masters 50-54 year-old Division.

In 2014 he left his career in investment banking to run Diablo CrossFit. Craig helped launch the now-defunct Pro GRID League and was a part owner of the San Francisco Fire Team.

Craig is passionate about CrossFit for its incredible simplicity, superior efficacy, and amazing results for EVERYONE, including the de-conditioned, the disabled as well as top athletes.
