As part of our #fitnessisalifestyle campaign, I am going to create small nutrition challenges that you can work on each month! The goal isn’t perfection here.. it’s just to become a “little bit better” than you were yesterday.  This is how we create new habits and lasting change. Let’s use each other for motivation and new ideas!!

The challenge for JULY is:  

We are truly blessed here in California to have access to FRESH, LOCAL, IN SEASON produce all year round! How much do you take advantage of your local Farmers’ Market?!

On top of all the fruits and vegetables you can usually find eggs, honey, nuts, meat, flowers and maybe even some music and prepared food to eat! No cash? No problem! Some stands will take debit / credit cards and in Walnut Creek they have Market Bucks you can buy with a card and use with all vendors.

My favorite Farmers’ Market to hit up is the one in Walnut Creek (1737 Locust Street), which is open every Sunday from 9am to 1pm. You can check out their website here http://www.cccfm.org/farmers-market/walnut-creek/ and see exactly which vendors will be there and what products they sell.

Your Challenge

So your challenge this month is to hit any Farmers’ Market, one time each week! Explore all vendors and try to find new foods. With ‘Google’ you can learn how to prepare and cook anything you buy 🙂 Every FRIDAY you will log your results into Sugarwod so we can hold each other accountable. Friday, July 6th we will ask if you attended a Farmers’ Market from Sat, June 30th – Fri, July 6th.. So don’t wait, START THIS WEEKEND!!
