CONGRATULATIONS COACHES ALESSANDRA & LARA!  Alessandra Pichelli has been training intensely at the Training Think Tank Pro Camp with several other Games athletes, including Noah Olson, Travis Meyer & Lauren Fisher. Her hard work paid off as she finished in 13th in North America (out of 3800+ athletes!). Sandra qualifies for the Semi Finals and will find out on Wednesday, which North American Semi-Final competition she’ll be attending.

Coach Lara has been prepping for an Ironman competition in September, but took a break from her training to do the Open. As a citizen of Namibia, Lara was able to qualify for the Semi Finals with a 29th place finish in Africa! She’ll be traveling to “The Fittest in Cape Town” in May.

ANEJO GAVE IT THEIR ALL. After completing the Individual Quarterfinal Workouts, our Anejo Team, Jonathan Castro, Jackson Miller, Kendra Watters and Cynthia Pammett, had one week off to prepare for the team competition – essentially the same workouts! Team #classfit finished 135th in North America and made our community proud with their PRs along the way. Thank you, Team Anejo! Check out Stephen Stover’s cool video of their first workouts.

NEXT UP: MASTERS & TEENS! Our Masters Athletes will be competing the weekend of May 6th – 9th. The format will be the same as Indies and Teams: 2 workouts on Thu, 2 on Fri and 1 on Saturday. Diablo’s masters and teens will likely be doing the workouts at the same time each day. We’ll publish a schedule on May 5th. Our age-group qualifiers include:

  • Taylor Madge (14/15)
  • Melissa Chatterton (50-54)
  • Kim Hilen (50-54)
  • Davida Jones (50-54)

CRAIG’S LIST (Stuff I’m Reading, Listening To or Watching)

The Sevan Podcast Episode 21 – Paul Saladino (Author, “The Carnivore Diet”) Contrary to what you might think, Paul Saladino does not hate carbs. In fact, he believes that healthy, natural carbs (i.e., honey & fruit) are important especially since they were part of our ancestral diet. Sevan is a relaxed and very funny interviewer and is currently 100% carnivore, which makes for a great discussion.

The Hidden Connection Between Sleep and Dementia, Rhonda Patrick  This is an important discussion – and a huge revelation for those who have the markers for dementia. 5 hours or less of sleep per night is NOT healthy for the brain!

Making Sense – Sam Harris with Rener Gracie: Police Training & Police Misconduct – This is an excellent breakdown of the surprisingly minimal physical training requirements of police forces. Rener Gracie is a grandson of the founder of Gracie Jiu Jitsu or, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Rener strongly advocates for weekly Jiu Jitsu training for police officers which would empower them in physical confrontations and reduce dependency on tasers and guns. This is an insightful and powerfully persuasive discussion.

Make it an awesome week!
