WARNING: THE FRONT ROOM & YOUNG CHILDREN
Now that school is out for the summer, we have a lot of young visitors in our waiting room area. And, we love seeing our young Diablo family. However, because of City Zoning regulations, Diablo cannot provide childcare. Additionally, our Front Desk Staff are not trained nor are they able to provide supervision for young children. They have responsibilities that often require them to leave the front room unattended for long periods of time.
We do not manage who walks in our front door.
Because we are located in the Light Industrial zone of Pleasant Hill, we have had a few incidents with homeless and an occasional disreputable visitor. And, our staff and a couple members have reported minor verbal incidents with the laborers next door. The bottom line is that it is not safe to leave young children unattended in the lobby area.
Diablo has an unsupervised “kids’ room” in the Open Gym area, if your child is mature enough to self-manage. This room is out of the way of main-gym and lobby traffic.
Going forward, the Diablo Front Room will be restricted to Diablo members (including our Teen Strong members) and visitors age 13 or over.

About 7 Diablo Members will be competing in the inaugural “NorCal Classic”, Friday – Sunday in Sacramento at the Riverwalk Park on 2nd Street. This event is very likely going to become a CrossFit Sanctional event next year. If you’re a fan of CrossFit, come check out this cool event. There will be plenty of vendors on hand as well.

Sapiens, A Brief History of Humankind – Yuval Noah Hurari – I finished the last couple chapters of this book where Hurari discusses in chilling detail, the possible outcomes for humanity. It is very humbling to hear his thoughts on technology, artificial intelligence and human genome modifications. I think I’m in agreement that humans may be survived by the technology we create – which can already process information faster and which does not need food, water or air to survive. This is a fantastic book from start to finish.
